Get a Library Card

You must live within the boundaries of Sparta Township to receive a library card from Sparta Township Library. This will be your Home Library.  If you live in another township or county, you will have a different Home Library, and must first go to that library to get your library card.  Some examples are:

  • If you live in Tyrone Twp. your Home Library is Tyrone Twp. Library in Kent City.
  • If you live in Algoma Twp. your Home Library is Krause Memorial library in Rockford.
  • If you live in Chester Twp. your Home Library is Coopersville Area District Library in Coopersville.
  • If you live in Alpine Twp. your Home Library is Alpine Branch of KDL on M37, (Alpine)
  • If you live in Solon Twp. your Home Library is Cedar Springs Public Library in Cedar Springs.

Once you get your card at your Home Library, that card can be used here at Sparta Twp. Library.

Show a Picture Identification

Your picture ID should be valid and include your current home address.  Examples include:

  • A driver’s license or state identification, (must be a MI driver’s license or state ID.)
  • A passport
  • A military identification
  • A resident alien card (green card)

Prove Your Current Address

If your picture ID does not have your current address, please show one of the following as well:

  • A delivered piece of mail with your current address
  • Printed checks with your current address on them
  • Paycheck stub with your address on it
  • Lease/housing agreement with your current address on it

Library cards are free.  A charge of $5.00 is required to replace a lost card.

Obtaining a Library Card for Your Child

Any child age 17 or under and at least five years of age must have parent/legal guardian permission. Your child and a parent/legal guardian must be present at the library to receive a card. The parent/legal guardian must show identification listed above.
